Our organization is on the tail end of an ERP implementation that cuts across diverse business units and wide-ranging functional groups—and is, let’s admit, kind of a huge pain to go through. Why are we doing it? Because information fuels innovation. It makes us more efficient and able to make better decisions, grow intelligently, and ultimately serve our customers better

After all, all organizations are “information processors” to some extent. But while data-driven decision making is gaining ground, it’s doing so unevenly. For large entities, that may be because they are not nimble enough to adopt changes to their business models. For smaller organizations—say a single, family-owned or multi-store pharmacy—it may be because it seems like too big of a project to tackle.
