The Weekly Roundup

In December, UK officials warned the public of a super bug and now it’s arrived on this side of the pond. Army researchers have announced that a Pennsylvania woman is the first in the U.S. to present with a strain of E. coli that is resistant to colistin. Prime Minister Cameron is urging strong measures to reduce the number of prescriptions written with the goal to halve the number of drug-resistant bug infections by 2020. The story will no doubt be watched closely stateside in the coming weeks, so be prepared to answer questions about antibiotic resistance.
