The Community Pharmacist: Blood Pressure, The Basics (Audio)

February 02, 2016 | Pamela Youngberg Dickson

In honor of American Heart Health month, we continue to share some links and resources to help you talk about heart health with your patients.  Last week we kicked off Heart Health month with an audio series on cholesterol; this week we launch the first of three segments on blood pressure. According to the CDC, one in three American adults has high blood pressure and only half have it under control. (Read more from the CDC about blood pressure here.)

Tune in—and invite your patients to do the same—to “Blood Pressure: The Basics” with Minnesota pharmacist Jessica Astrup Ehret on her weekly radio show, “Community Pharmacist Conversations.” You’ll learn:

  • What blood pressure numbers mean and when you should worry;
  • Tips for getting accurate readings outside the doctor’s office; and
  • Lifestyle risks and changes that impact blood pressure.
