Don’t delay on ordering 2020 – 2021 influenza vaccines!
They won’t be thinking about it until next fall or winter, but your patients and community are counting on your team to help them fight the flu this fall! In fact, your vaccination efforts help prevent millions of illnesses and flu-related doctors’ visits each year.
During the 2017 – 2018 flu season, the CDC reports that the vaccination prevented an estimated:
- 6.2 million influenza illnesses
- 3.2 million influenza-associated medical visits
- 91,000 influenza-associated hospitalizations
- 5,700 influenza-associated deaths
The time to think about the 2020 – 2021 flu season is now! The vaccinations are first ordered, first served, and we encourage you not to wait on ordering your flu shots for the fall.
With our members’ stores and patients in mind, we’ve contracted member pricing on flu vaccines through two preferred vendors and are encouraging them to get their orders in as quickly as possible. If you are not a Smart-Fill member, check out our website to see how we are working to help our members get more competitive and stay independent!
When you place your order, don’t forget to make sure you are prepared with the right mix of vaccines to meet the special needs of your patient populations, including high-dose, quadrivalent, and any special alternatives for children and patients with allergies. Supply is limited, and vaccines may sell out before the deadlines.
