Smart-Take: Heart Valve Disease

March 02, 2017 | Pamela Youngberg Dickson

Heart valve disease kills 25,000 people every year—and is still highly unrecognized by the public. In fact, in a 2016 survey, the Alliance for Aging Research found that 40 percent of respondents knew nothing about it. For some patients, the onset of the disease produces no or minor symptoms and is caught at a patient’s regular physical. Left untreated, heart valve disease can slowly worsen and cause heart failure, stroke, blood clots, or death due to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

To help spread awareness about heart valve disease, we’ve created another installation of our patient-centric “Smart-Take” series—a downloadable page of health tips and information we gather on a range of topics that you can post in your stores. Or, if you like, drop us a note and we'll be happy to personalize this content with the addition of your store logo. We'll email you a copy and you can forward it to your store customers.
